Alexander (Alex) Gupta, MD is a general surgery resident in the University of California, San Francisco Department of Surgery. He completed his undergraduate training at Southern Methodist University studying Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Biomedical Sciences. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He has completed three years of clinical training, and is currently in his second year of his two-year research fellowship. He is working with Dr. James Gardner and Dr. Johannes Kratz to study the role of a extrathymic Aire-gene expressing cell populations in evasion of normal mechanisms of immune surveillance by tumors in murine models. Clinically, he is interested in abdominal solid organ transplantation.
