Dr. Keith Hansen is a general surgery resident at UCSF. He received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Purdue University. While at Purdue, Keith received a gubernatorial appointment to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and worked in the legislature. He pursued roles at Abbott and Akina working on bioidentification and nanoparticulate drug delivery systems and created a phone-based point of care EKG device. He later obtained his medical degree from Indiana University where he served as president of the Gold-Humanism Honor Society and worked on a patented ECMO antibody filtration system at MIT.

He is a graduate of the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship trained in the needs-based process of identification, invention, and implementation of medical devices and has developed a kidney preservation device to improve transplant outcomes and is the founder of DIATIRO. He served as a Physician-in-Residence at IDEO.

Keith is a surgeon with a passion for innovations that help people and for invention forged by melding history and technology.
