Funding Overview
Dr. Simon Chu received an F32 grant through the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for his project titled "Enhancing Safety and Efficacy of Stem-Cell Derived Islet Transplantation Using CRISPR-Mediated Genome Engineering.

Categorical vascular, general surgery and research-track plastic surgery residents typically complete two years of dedicated research time between the PGY-3 and PGY-4 years. Residents apply for dunning prior to and during their research years to fund the direct and indirect costs of their research years. If a resident is unable to obtain funding after applying for multiple grants, the Department will work with the resident and their mentor to identify alternative funding paths and, in limited cases, may provide the resident with funding. See Policy of Resident Funding in Research for more information.
